Oh and there is a great little excerpt below for you to get a taste of what it is you would be missing if you didn't buy.
Rebecca’s life of luxury in Meadow Ridge is vanishing faster than the designer clothes from her closet—unless she finds someone to share her life and her rent.
When she meets Finn, the rugged, sexy motorcycle hunk, she thinks her luck has finally changed. There’s just one problem—he’s not from Meadow Ridge. Reid, her high school flame, comes back to town as the Meadow’s most eligible bachelor, with a tendency to spoil his girlfriends, and a gorgeous mansion—everything she’s always wanted.
Now Rebecca’s torn between Finn, the man who lives a simple life outside the Meadow and Reid, the man who can give her the life she’s always wanted.
I overall enjoyed Love or Luxury by Heather Thurmeier. It was a quick read which in this case was good for me since there was not a lot of suspense/conflict. The big issue in this story was weather Rebecca would choose love/Finn or luxury/Reid.
Rebecca is a high society woman who is down on her luck when the story opens, she is about to be kicked out of her posh apartment in a luxury gated community while trying to keep up with her shopaholic friends. All this while waiting on her high school flame who left the secluded gated life to pursue his dream of becoming a doctor. It seems like no one ever leaves the gated community. EVER. It's like they live on an island. And if they do and someone finds out that they left;even for a quick bite to eat, they are treated like an outcast. Does this really happen?
Anyway, Rebecca is forced to land a job outside Meadow Ridge-because she can't be seen working within the gates- at a diner which is where she meets Finn formally. She actually meets him as she is crossing the street and Finn almost runs her over with his motorcycle.
Anyway, they meet. But of course Finn lives outside Meadow Ridge and Rebecca doesn't want to tell him that she works at the diner;-who the heck knows why since he lives outside the gates- she tells him she volunteers there for charity. Who would ever believe that? Anyway, the story progresses and eventually Reid comes back into town and Rebecca has to choose between the life that she’s always dreamed of or love with a guy like Finn.
Love or Luxury was a sweet read, not very gripping though. Finn was written very well, I enjoyed him as a hero. Rebecca was a good character in that she wasn’t exactly like her spoiled rich friends in that she liked to help the less fortunate.
He finished with his helmet and climbed onto the seat in front of her. "You're going to have to hold on tight." Her small hands slipped around his sides, gripping him softly. That wouldn't be tight enough to hold on, but it was certainly tight enough to stir a reaction in him. When was the last time that had happened?
Her hands on his sides felt so good. He couldn't help but imagine what her hands would feel like elsewhere on his body. The engine revved to life beneath him, the rumble of it doing nothing to help calm the thoughts now racing through his mind.
"Everything okay?" Rebecca yelled from behind him, her voice barely carrying over the noise of the engine and through the obstruction of his helmet.
Sure. Great. Fine. If only he could get his mind off of her hands on his body. He needed to focus on the road, not her.
"Just checking all the gauges and whatnot," he yelled back. An innocent lie.
Get it together. She's already nervous without me acting like I don't know what I'm doing.
Revving the engine one more time to clear his thoughts, he looked over his shoulder and carefully pulled out into the street. Her grip on him tightened with the movement, and he didn't even bother to try to stop a giant smile from spreading across his lips. Her hands felt so good.
