Introduces two Erotic anthologies by multi talented author Tosba Learner

Tobsha Learner was born and raised in England; she now divides her time between the UK and the USA and Australia. She is also a playwright and her other genres include historical fiction and thrillers. Her thriller persona is T.S. Learner (Sphinx, The Map).

For me erotica always emerges out of the psychology and power-play between my characters – in this way it is never sex for sex’s sake. I am also interested in the twist in the short story genre – the sting in the tail and many of my short stories tend to have an ironic surprise. I also like historical settings, the use of humour and the bathos both love and sex often place ordinary people in.

Some of my erotica has supernatural elements, almost like adult fables. I am interested in relationship – the fantastic and the political, redemption and moral ambiguity. As a writer I aspire toward creating great characterisation that makes landscape visceral.

Not too long ago, I received two books in the mail to review.  At the time of requesting these two books, all I took in was the genre, which was Erotic. Which I was totally into at the time.   When I opened the package I was a bit taken aback by the titles and also the covers.  Now, don’t get me wrong, I knew both when requesting, but to get the actual product in hand is totally different.  I wasn’t too impressed by the simple titles (they weren’t really imaginative at all).  And the covers were not at all inspired, so I tossed them to the side and figured I had enough time to read both before the deadline.  I started Quiver, which was the smaller of the two in terms of length.  I was immediately turned off further by the narrative, which I believe is called third-person, subjective.  The author didn’t really involve the reader at all in the story and it felt very forced, I have to admit I really only read two or three stories in this anthology, I really couldn’t get past the narration.

                Now, the second book entitled Tremble was over half the length that Quiver was, but used the most common form of narration in writing books today which made it so much easier to read and enjoy.  I really did like Tremble although it was an anthology.

Although both books were termed Erotic, I really didn’t get that; both books had more story to them than erotic elements.  I really didn’t like either book, but Tremble was slightly better.
