Virtual Tour: Accidental Sex Goddess by Lexi Ryan

I am so excited to to introduce this book and author.  I loved reading every single word of this passion filled story.  I hope you read my review of Accidental Sex Goddess that follows this post, and be sure to comment below to ensure you get an entry in winning this amazing gift basket.  Good Luck!

Lexi is awarding a "pamper your inner sex goddess" gift basket (bath products, books from her backlist and candles - US ONLY) to one randomly drawn commenter, and a $25 Amazon or B&N gift card, winner's choice, to another randomly drawn commenter during the tour.

Promotions director Reese Regan isn’t a sex goddess and doesn’t want to be. But the job of her dreams requires her enrollment in renowned Sex Goddess 101. To avoid a trip to the unemployment line, Reese must pass the program and become Chicago’s next seductress—or at least fake it convincingly. Her best friend, the ruggedly sexy contractor Ben Hawk, helps her “fake” her way through the program, and the heat between them flares. When trust is broken and secrets are revealed, it appears they’ve traded years-long friendship for temporary passion. Will faking something so important cost them their chance at something real?

“Me? A Sex Goddess? Seriously, can you picture that?”

You have no idea. “Fake it,” he said with a shrug. When she scowled, he grabbed her hands and squeezed. “I’m serious, Reese. It’s five steps, right?”

“Ten.”

“Okay, so you’ll do ten things, pretend you’re one of her Slut Hotness converts, and you’ll have the job of your dreams.” He shrugged again. “Fake it.”

She took a deep breath and some of the tension left her face. “Are you sure you’re not just saying this so you can see me wear skimpy clothes?”

“It’s an added bonus.”

She sighed and leaned her head against his shoulder. “Thank you, Ben.”

Ben shut his eyes and resisted the urge to pull her body close. “Sure thing.”

Tucking his chin, he buried his nose in her hair, taking a hit of her scent, that soft and feminine smell that haunted him.

She drew away. “You seem different lately. Is something wrong?”

“Work stuff is getting to me.” And it was the truth, if only part of it. “I have big plans and dad—” He cut himself off with a shake of his head. He didn’t want to talk about Hawk Construction right now. He didn’t want to talk about anything. He wanted to keep her in his arms for as long as he could get away with it.

She studied him silently for a minute. “You want more,” she said simply.

She had no idea. And for the first time since he had knocked on her door six years ago, Ben let himself consider the possibility of taking what he wanted.

My Review

The friends to lovers theme is the best yet in my opinion.  I love all that sexual tension and the unacknowledged chemistry and Accidental Sex Goddess really does not disappoint in the slightest.
Reese Regan has just lost her job and in order for her to land another one, she has to enroll in a self esteem course entitled Sex Goddess 101.  Reese doesn’t think going through a ‘makeover’ is worth it just to further her career but after seeing her co worker talking it up to a curvaceous blonde at the bar one night, she decides to go for it.
But it isn’t only Mark Hawk who gets bowled over by her transformation.  Mark’s brother Ben has been in love with Reese ever since meeting her all those years ago and after a failed attempt at a relationship Reese and Ben agreed that it was better if they were just friends.  Well, neither of them wanted to be just friends but neither of them had the courage to do anything about it until the Sex Goddess (her new boss) made Reese into a knockout.  But what Reese doesn’t know until it’s almost too late is that it wasn’t the clothes or the new haircut that made Mark or Ben take notice, it was her newfound self esteem.
But both Reese and Ben have secrets that could destroy their newfound love.  Can they entrust that their fragile new relationship will withstand the truth?
Combined with this theme that I cannot get enough of, Lexi Ryan has written remarkable sex scenes that were truly steamy.  Now, they really do not have sex until later in the book but the interrupted sex scenes where they almost consummate adds an additional mind blowing element to the plot.

A little about the Author

Like most authors, I feel a little silly writing these. My life is one I love and there's not much I'd change about it, but it's not terribly exciting.

I live in mid-western Indiana, where I spend my days teaching English at a local college. In the evenings, I get to hang out with my husband and two kids--a five-year-old boy and a one-year-old hellion, er, girl. Not surprisingly, reading and writing remain my favorite activities, though both come in bits and pieces these days, not the big hunks of time I enjoyed before I had children. When I'm feeling virtuous, I like to go running (I use that word liberally. I'm really, really slow) or do yoga. Don't worry, I'm always careful to balance out such activities with a hearty serving of ice cream or a chocolate martini.

I love hearing from readers, so I hope you'll drop me a note at  writerlexiryan@gmail.com

  1. Megan, thank you so much for being a part of my VBT and for taking the time to review the book. I'm so glad you liked it!

For those commenting below, can you picture yourself enrolling in a self-esteem course? Would you be more or less inclined if it called itself Sex Goddess 101? :)

  4. It's a good thing I checked this blog out on my computer. A little while ago, I came across this on FB & left a comment with my iPhone. Maybe it's still floating around on the airwaves. But I see it didn't show up, so I'll leave it again.

I loved the excerpt & the review on this book. This is definitely the kind of books I enjoy reading & I will be adding it to my TBRs. Thank you! I love getting introduced to new authors.

  6. Lexi...I'm a college librarian and also have taught college English. I love being able to do both but I find teaching English exhausting! How do you manage your time teaching and writing? Do you teach full time and write part time or visa versa?

    1. Catherine,

      That's awesome! I do love libraries. :)

Teaching English is labor-intensive, I agree, and my relationship with grading isn't getting any healthier. ;) Right now I'm a full-time faculty member (meaning, teaching a 5-5 load, advising, committee work...but luckily no research expectations). I fit writing in around work and family for the time being. I'm hoping that will change in the not-too-distant future, but we'll see. Those stacks of papers are a great motivator to wake up at 4am and write, though. :)

  7. I can't wait to read ACCIDENTAL SEX GODDESS. It sounds like a fun, sexy story and I have always loved friends-to-lovers stories. As to your question, I could have used a self-esteem class when I was younger (I actually think most young women could). I think it should be a requirement for all girls, and probably the boys too, starting from elementary school through high school.

    1. June, good morning! Thanks for stopping by!

We could all use a little more belief in ourselves, couldn't we? I worked with a bunch of young people yesterday for a special event my college was hosting. We were doing a program on spoken word poetry and it was interesting to see how students reacted to the idea of sharing something they'd written.

Lexi, I am rather on the shy side so I don't see me being able to get myself to enroll in a class like that.
