The Accidental Witch by Jessica Penot is a cute little supernatural short story about a woman who doesn’t know that she’s a witch until she buys this old haunted mansion along with a couple cemeteries thrown in with the land that is called The Black Magnolia. She finds a spell book in the mansion and one night, out of boredom and some deep lust she conjures a love spell. The next day, she finds tht her love interest is probably too in love with her, but that’s okay; she’ll just go easy next time on the magic.
It isn’t until her friends intervene that she even thinks she might be doing the whole witch thing all wrong ( her friends are witches too btw). But Phaedra doesn’t care because for once in her life she is happy. It isn’t until things get totally out of control that she begins to have doubts, but it’s too late. Can her dark and mysterious spell caster friend help her in time?
The Accidental Witch was a good, quick read full of witch craft and magic. Personally, this short story wasn’t my cup of tea, that doesn’t mean I didn’t like it totally, but it didn’t really capture my attention and hold it like I was hoping it would.
